PROJECTS

"Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world."

- Desmod Tutu

Animals/Wildlife
Some are quite well-mannered, all things considered. Others are simply born to be wild. No matter your preference, we have projects for every animal lover. Help groom and train animals rescued from the street. Rehabilitate injured wild animals and help them to reintegrate into their natural habitat. Join a wildlife conservation project, or treat animal injuries and illnesses at a veterinary clinic.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH
Got energy and stamina? You’re definitely going to need it; children have a way of keeping you on your toes!  Choose from one of our many orphanage, childcare/daycare, teaching projects, or after-school enrichment programs. Help with homework, organize and plan after school games and activities, teach English, and assist the staff with preparing meals and other responsibilities as needed.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Education and literacy; safe and decent housing; and public health and safety are fundamental to strong, healthy communities. Roll-up your sleeves and get involved. Organize enrichment activities for children and adults at a local community center or organize literacy events. Are you handy? Put those skills to use constructing homes for low-income residents. Educate the public about health risks and habits that impact community wellness: HIV/AIDS, Dengue, hygiene, and other diseses and practices.

ELDERLY CARE
As the saying goes, “You’re only as old as you feel.” Have you seen the the videos of dancing octogenarians and centenarians on social media? It looks like age really is just a number, especially when you have the right inspiration. Be the spark that brightens the day of elderly nursing home residents. Teach exercise or yoga. Organize games and fun social activities. Keep them company and share your experiences. Glean from their wisdom.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION
Widely known and admired for their lush, tropical vegetation and exotic fauna, rain-forests are also crucial to our survival. They are most often dubbed the "lungs of our planet" and for good reason. Our lives depend on these fragile ecosystems for the absorption of carbon dioxide and oxygen production. The alarming rate of deforestation is a threat to this delicate balance, resulting in unseasonable weather patterns, warming oceans, increased pollution, and lower crop yields. It’s a race against time that we must be resolved to win through community outreach and education, aggressive reforestation efforts, and organic agricultural practices.

SPECIAL NEEDS CARE
Special people deserve special care. Compassionate and calm volunteers are needed to nurture and further the physical, emotional, and cognitive development of children and adults living with special needs. Play therapy, counseling, speech therapy, and other therapeutic modules and exercises are used to help patients achieve their best quality of life. You might also be responsible for feeding patients, helping with cooking and cleaning, and other project tasks.

STREET, AT-RISK KIDS
When living and surviving on the streets (and all of its trappings) is the only life they know, that tends to be the course “street children” follow. Help change the trajectory of a young person’s life.  Teach at-risk youth valuable life skills and assist with job training efforts. Give them the healthy tools they need to cope with and overcome the traumas experienced as a result of abandonment and rejection. Organize recreational activities and assist the staff with daily chores.
